 Concrete in general can be used in many different applications.  Interior and exterior floors, sidewalks, curbs, footings, poured basement walls and driveways are just a few examples.

The equation above will give the approximate cubic yards of concrete needed for a particular job.  If easier to calculate, the 'Width x Length' portion of the equation can be replaced by a total surface area in square feet. 

Note that the calculation will only be accurate when the thickness used in the equation is consistent throughout the job.  If the grade varies, the calculated volume can be either higher or lower than the actual volume.
