project below to estimate the amount of concrete needed to complete your
project. Note that such estimates will only be as good as the site
preparation for the project. For example, if a garage slab is to be 24 feet by 24 feet and poured at 5 inches thick, 8.88 yards3 will be needed if the grade is prepared perfectly so every point of the slab is exactly 5 inches thick. The actual thickness of the slab is likely to vary and therefore typical practice is to order concrete in quantities of 0.25 yards3 - therefore, 9 yards3 would typically be ordered. Additionally, many slabs may include a grade beam edge around the circumference of the slab. The calculators on this page are not able to account for such beams, so please be aware that more concrete will be required if such a detail is included.
