Concrete blocks are produced in many sizes, shapes and
colors for all types of functions. The blocks can be used as
architectural, structural or decorative elements in a construction project.
So how are concrete blocks produced?Similar to ready mix concrete,
concrete blocks consist of basic materials. Portland cement, coarse
aggregate (gravel), fine aggregate (sand) and water are the basic
ingredients.

These materials are combined in the right proportion to give a 'block
mix' that is able to be formed into the many shapes that concrete blocks
take.

The mix is formed into the various block shapes by a machine that uses a
combination of vibration and compaction to shape the block mix into the
desired shape and density.

After the mix is formed into the block shape, the new 'green' block is
put into a kiln that combines the use of steam and CO2
to cure, or harden, the block. About 24 hours later, the block is
removed from the kiln and can be packaged to be shipped.
